About us
ROLLICKING ENTERTAINMENT LTD was founded by David Ladderman and Lizzie Tollemache.
Founded in 2014, we use variety arts to expand the definition of theatre and connect with non traditional audiences. Our shows beckon you in with a wink and a grin… Then leapfrog over the fourth wall, telling New Zealand stories that adapt and respond to the community in front of us.
Drawing on years of experience in street theatre, circus, illusion and physical theatre; Rollicking has created and produced original productions for children (The Messy Magic Adventure, Kitchen Chaos, Bathtime Bubbles), adults (Mr and Mrs Alexander: Sideshows and Psychics, Seven Deadly Stunts, The Dunstan Creek Haunting), outdoor theatre (King Arthur, Treasure Island, Complete Voyage of the RMS Titanic) and cabarets/variety entertainment for the likes of Splore, CubaDupa, Auckland Arts Festival, Beervana, World Buskers Festival, Dubai International Comedy Festival, Cricket World Cup, Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, TSB Festival of Lights.
Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Rollicking Entertainment productions have criss crossed the country with three Arts On Tour tours, seven Circa seasons, three collaborations with Auckland Live, five World Buskers Festival seasons, five Centrepoint Theatre seasons, two Court Theatre collaborations and dozens of regional arts festivals. Internationally, our work has toured Canada, Australia, UAE and the UK. Specializing in shows about about oddballs, outsiders and underdogs, our productions have won multiple awards including Production of the Year (PAYPA), Critics Choice Award (World Buskers Festival), Outstanding Ensemble (Ottawa Fringe).
